Reading is a thrill. I say this as someone who has jumped off 65 foot cliffs into rivers, backpacked into the wilderness, flown in small planes over the Himalayas, and fallen in love. Reading CAN be thrilling. Please read the first two entries of this blog to learn more about what I mean...

Tony Blair: Major World Leaders
Hinman, Bonnie. Tony Blair: Major World Leaders. Introduction by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Chelsea House Publishers, 2003. ISBN: 0-7910-7185-5.
This biography, although written for young readers, will not appeal to tweens or teens with a short attention span. However, young tweens who enjoy biographies, history, and politics on their own, may be able to keep interest in this 111 page book that includes color photographs, a chronology, suggested reading, and index.
Parts of Prime Minister Blair's life that would be of interest to a tween (his rebellious teen years and his time as a rock band promoter) are woven into the long lists of political positions he held before rising to the rank of Prime Minister. Interesting information about the political workings, professional and family drama, and world events that surrounded his time in power are also discussed.
The introduction, although very deep and interesting, may be over the heads of most tween readers.
